Harnessing the Power of Solar: Highlights from Our First Educational Event in Varna, Bulgaria

We’re thrilled to share the success of our inaugural event, held recently in Varna, Bulgaria, where we introduced a small group of passionate individuals to the exciting world of solar energy. The event provided attendees with a hands-on experience, allowing them to explore how solar power works and how it can be effectively harnessed for everyday use.

Understanding Solar Energy

The session kicked off with an introduction to the fundamentals of solar energy—an increasingly vital resource in the shift toward renewable energy solutions. We explained how solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity through photovoltaic (PV) systems. This clean, sustainable energy source has enormous potential to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, and we wanted to show participants how accessible and beneficial it can be.

A Field Trip to a Photovoltaic System

One of the key highlights of the event was a visit to a live photovoltaic system in Varna. Our attendees had the unique opportunity to see how solar panels are installed and understand their real-world application. The system we explored was a 100kW installation designed self-consumption, meaning all the electricity produced was used on-site, with no excess exported to the grid.

This hands-on experience allowed participants to witness how the positioning of solar panels—especially their angle and direction relative to the sun—plays a crucial role in optimizing energy generation. This practical demonstration brought home the importance of designing a system tailored to specific environmental conditions.

Understanding the role of the Inverter

We also delved into the inner workings of a solar inverter, an essential component of any PV system. The inverter converts the direct current (DC) produced by the solar panels into alternating current (AC), which is what powers homes and businesses. Our discussion emphasized how to effectively use solar energy throughout the day by aligning energy consumption patterns with peak production times.
